Description

The Prosoft PLX31-EIP-SIE is an advanced EtherNet/IP to Siemens Industrial Ethernet communication gateway designed to facilitate high-speed, bi-directional data transfers between EtherNet/IP-enabled controllers (such as ControlLogix or CompactLogix) and Siemens S7 series PLCs, including S7-200, S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200, and S7-1500 PACs. This gateway simplifies the integration of diverse automation platforms, optimizing network performance and reducing commissioning time.

Industries including manufacturing, utilities, pharmaceuticals, and building automation deploy the PLX31-EIP-SIE to bridge EtherNet/IP and Siemens Industrial Ethernet networks, enabling seamless communication without requiring complex protocol conversions or disruptive infrastructure changes. The gateway supports multiple I/O connections with configurable Requested Packet Intervals (RPIs), allowing users to prioritize status or control data to optimize Ethernet bandwidth.

The gateway includes an embedded EDS Add-On Profile, streamlining integration into Rockwell Automation’s Studio 5000 environment. It features an SD card slot (SD card optional) for storing configuration files, enabling fast disaster recovery and easy backup. ProSoft Discovery Service software assists in locating and configuring devices even when on different subnets, enhancing management and diagnostics without network reconfiguration.

Technically, the PLX31-EIP-SIE supports up to 5 Class 3 server connections, along with Class 1 and Class 3 client connections, facilitating versatile communication scenarios. It allows up to 10,000 16-bit registers for large data exchanges, supporting PLC-2, PLC5, SLC, ControlLogix, and Siemens PLC data types and command sets. The module operates over a 24 VDC supply and handles rugged industrial conditions, functioning between -25°C and 70°C with shock and vibration resistance per IEC standards.
