GE IC695PBM300-CC PROFIBUS-DP Master Module (RX3i)

The IC695PBM300-CC is not a CPU or processor; it is a communication interface — specifically a PROFIBUS Master module. It occupies a single slot in the RX3i universal backplane and functions as the master for a PROFIBUS-DP network. The host CPU programs it and exchanges data via the normal backplane data path.

Product Role & System Fit

The IC695PBM300-CC is not a CPU or processor; it is a communication interface — specifically a PROFIBUS Master module. It occupies a single slot in the RX3i universal backplane and functions as the master for a PROFIBUS-DP network. The host CPU programs it and exchanges data via the normal backplane data path.

It must reside in an RX3i universal backplane (PCI style) and cannot be placed in legacy 90-30 backplanes.  The host RX3i CPU must run firmware version 2.9 or later to support the PBM300.

In system architectures, this module is paired with standard digital/analog I/O, communication modules (Ethernet, serial), and remote I/O racks. The PBM300-CC becomes the “bus master” for PROFIBUS devices, allowing your PAC logic to issue CommReq, read status, poll diagnostics, and respond to alarms from DP slaves.

Because the module supports DP-V1 (read/write and alarm messaging) and modes like freeze/sync, it integrates better with intelligent devices and adds diagnostic visibility you wouldn’t get in simpler gateways.

In retrofits, the PBM300-CC is often chosen to replace aging PROFIBUS gateways or to consolidate network segments within the RX3i ecosystem, thereby keeping system maintenance under one software umbrella (Machine Edition / Logic Developer PLC).
